Who Erin is
Erin Caldwell is a content contributor at Neurodiverge App and a self-identified autistic and ADHD adult. She is part of the small team that writes and maintains the guides and screen copy on this site, and she is the first named reviewer of the editorial panel we committed to on How our self-screens are built.
She has been deep in this subject for more than five years. In that time she has written explainers on it, taken part in peer and community groups for neurodivergent adults, and moderated online spaces where they talk.
Moderating matters for this work: it means regular, unfiltered contact with how people describe their own experience, in their own words, rather than the tidied-up version that reaches a search box.
“Self-identified” is stated deliberately. A formal adult assessment is exactly the expensive, waitlisted barrier much of this site exists to describe honestly — and pretending otherwise about our own reviewer would be the kind of borrowed credibility we said we’d never use.
Why that matters here
A screen can be factually correct and still land wrong. Questions written for someone who is not masking get answered honestly by someone who is, and the result does not match their life. Wording can be accurate and still frame a trait as a fault.
Catching that is a different job from checking whether a clinical claim is right, and it is the job Erin is here to do.
How Erin keeps current
Understanding of adult autism and ADHD has moved quickly, and a guide written on five-year-old assumptions reads wrong to the people it describes. Erin follows the field through four kinds of source:
- Peer-reviewed research on adult autism and ADHD.
- Clinician-authored books and talks— specialists writing for a general audience, read as informed reporting rather than as instruction.
- First-person accounts by autistic and ADHD adults— the literature this site leans on most.
- Courses and webinars in the field, taken as ongoing study.
To be exact about that last point: those courses carry no certificate, and we do not present them as a qualification. They are study, not credentials. If that ever changes we will name the certificate and who issued it, so you can check it.
What Erin reviews
Erin reviews guides and screen copy for lived-experience accuracy. Every review runs against the same four checks:
- Would a masking adult answer this question honestly, or does the phrasing miss how masking works?
- Does any sentence treat a trait as a defect rather than a difference?
- Does the page say plainly what a self-screen can and cannot tell you?
- Does anything contradict what autistic and ADHD adults actually report — including her own experience?
If a review turns something up, it is corrected before her name goes on the page, and the change is logged on the methodology page the same way reader corrections are. That is the standard we hold ourselves to, not a record of work already done.
What Erin does not review
Erin is not a doctor, psychologist or therapist, and her review is not clinical validation. Neurodiverge Appstill has no licensed clinician on the team — that remains true, it is stated on the methodology page, and we are still recruiting licensed clinical advisors for a separate clinical-review layer. Nothing on this site is a diagnosis or medical advice.
Editorial standards
A person is named on a page only for the kind of accuracy they can genuinely judge. We do not describe a lived-experience review as a clinical one. We do not invent credentials, and lived experience is never dressed up as one. We do not add a name retroactively to a page nobody has read.
Guides in Erin’s review remit
These are the guides and screens she is responsible for reviewing. A page carries her name, with the review date, only once she has read it end to end.
